In my quest to see Chicago by air we went up to the 360 Chicago observation deck which is on the 94th floor of the John Hancock building right on the Magnificent Mile.
We also did the TILT experience that tips you out over the city from over 1,000 feet in the air. To see a video check out their site here. My family thought I would wimp out and would jump off before we were tilted all of the way, but I hung in there and did it- even if I looked like I was ready to chicken out
When the John Hancock building was built in 1969 it was the 2nd tallest building in the world. The Observation deck has windows on all sides creating 360 degree views of the city and lakefront.
You can see North Shore Beach and Oak Street Beach to the north.
Ohio Beach and Navy Pier can be seen to the southeast.
Trump Tower, Willis Tower and our hotel were to the southwest.
Even though there were a lot of people checking out the views it was quite in the observation deck and we still needed to plan out part of our day so we enjoyed a beverage from the cafe while going over our plans. 360 Chicago was a great way to cool off and take a break while still seeing the sites and was perfectly placed at the north end of the Magnificent Mile.
Disclaimer: Thank you to 360 Chicago TILT for the complimentary passes. However, all opinions and views are ours.
