In planning our vacation I knew I wanted to see Chicago by land, air, and water. Traffic and parking downtown can be difficult to maneuver so I loved the idea of the Hop On Hop Off tour bus through Chicago Trolley & Double Decker Co. They have several ticket/tour options to choose from, we used the 3 Day Explore Pass. When we arrived to Chicago we parked our car in the parking garage and didn’t drive it again until we left for the Cubs game. The tour bus was one of the best decisions we made on our trip. There are 2 types of transportation that Chicago Trolley & Double Decker Co. provides and you can use them interchangeably.
When you purchase your pass they give you a booklet with the maps of the different tours that they offer which helped us plan out our day. Busses stopped every 10 minutes or so and there was always room to hop on. The tour guides were knowledgeable, entertaining and friendly.
This was not part of the official tour but we did drive past it. I wish I had found the time to go in, who knew you would find Target and Walgreens in these old buildings?
There were lots of spectacular views from the tour bus.
The Signature Tour stops at 13 major tourist attractions in Chicago.
I love all of these massive museums, like the Art Institute of Chicago, and wish I could have found the time to hop off and tour each and every one of them.
The Field Museum was beautiful and is near Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium on the “Museum Campus”. We did use Chicago Trolley to go to 360 TILT Chicago, Navy Pier, and the Museum of Science and Industry. The Museum of Science and Industry was further from our hotel than anything else we did and I was happy to see that it was on the South Tour, on the way there we drove past President Obama’s Chicago residence.
The Explore pass also offers a City Lights Night Tour which we took advantage of. All of the lights in Chicago at night really make for some beautiful views.
