This past week I brought the kids to Omaha to get some stuff done before school starts. We went to the Joslyn Art Museum, it had been around 20 years since I had been there last and the kids had never been there. When driving past I have always thought it was such a grand building and wanted to take the kids. There was an interactive shallow water display outside that you were welcome to stick your feet in and enjoy, it flowed into a stream shaped like a miniature Missouri River which was actually kind of cool.
From there we went to The Old Market, where we walked around and enjoyed lunch. We had been in the area over New Years to watch the fireworks but it was very cold and dark so we moved quick and didn’t see a lot. This time it was a beautiful day. We had lunch at Zio’s and enjoyed sitting near the window so we could check out the neighborhood. When I was a kid no trip to The Old Market was complete without stopping at the candy shop. Lizzie found Jelly Belly Bean Boozled Beans that gave us all a laugh as the kids played Bean Roulette. I think it’s the first package of candy that wasn’t gone the same day they bought it
Saturday Jim and Colten brought a steer to another local fair Colten received first in his class, tomorrow is the last day of that fair. Some of the veggies in the garden have started to become ripe so we have been making lots of salsa already, I will try to get that recipe posted soon. I haven’t met anybody that doesn’t like it and it can be so addicting!
